Cb750 cafe racer seat

May 30, 2008

I decided to showcase a nice little bolt-on part today. This seat is pretty straight forward, not much for me to rant and rave about. This is a high quality seat, that maintains the classic cafe look. But….the best part is….. it bolts on to your original hinges, and has a spot to mount your stock latch. I need to call and see if this bad boy will fit my 550K. These seats and many more cafe body parts are available at airtech streamlining. Good stuff.

Ok….I know this has nothing to do with cafe racers, or even motorcycles for that matter, but being a speed freak I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share with you my most recent adventure. TESLA. If the name doesn’t ring a huge bell upstairs, you can never call yourself a true car guy again. I was able to tour the Tesla factory, speak with the CEO and Chairman (Elon Lusk… paypal inventor), and ride shotgun in the roadster. AMAZING. 0 to 60 in 4 seconds!!!! The weirdest part was the nearly silent and perfectly smooth acceleration. NO NOISE, NO SHIFTS. This thing is seriously fast, not to mention it has a range of 200 miles, and get the equivalent of 100 MPG. Now do you believe me when I say this thing is serious. Do your research and save up a cool 110,000 big ones. Check out all the details here.  Welcome to the future.

Check out this little jewel. Ive been saving this bike for a rainy day, and since I have been negligent lately about posting, I figure this is close as it gets to rain. Anyway, this bike is stunning. Like I’ve said in the past….it’s all about the details, and boy does this bike have details.  Gold rear sets, gold float bowls, gold kick start, black spokes, powder coated engine. Can you say serious?  This bike is murdered out to the fullest.  Take note of the street tracker tail section too.  This is one I wish I owned.  Yes siirrrrr.

Not only do these add a nice little modern touch to your cafe racer, they may just save your life. These are really classy looking bar end mirrors that are high quality, and very functional. I suggest that everyone have at least one mirror on your bike so you can peep the guy thats crowding you. These look great and are smart to have. Get one and you’ll see.

cb350
Here is a great example of a smaller less sought after cafe racer bike. I know there are quite a few of these little Honda twins still stashed around the countryside. These little bikes are a great substitute to your big 550 and 750’s. They are easier to work on, easier to ride, and less expensive to make look cool. If you are not used to riding and working on bikes, I suggest starting out by building one of these and then working your way up to the bigger bikes. Ill be the first to admit that this is one mean looking 350, I would be proud to ride that around town. Get it together and start a little summer project of your own. Yep.

xs 650 street tracker
I know all you Yamaha guys keep wondering when I will squeeze an XS into the mix. Well wait no more. Here is a beautiful example of a street tracker style bike. This is a great template for anyone aiming to build their old XS into a nasty little street tracker. This particular bike is extremely nice, and is most likely out of most peoples price range, but like your teachers always taught you….its ok to set your goals high. Most of the parts used to build this bike can be found at www.omarsdtr.com. Just spend the money, and build yourself a dominate little XS650. Dont be cheap.

my cb550
I finally had a little time to work on my CB550 this weekend. As you can see, I stripped off the front fairing, the crash bar, the back rest, the rear pegs, and other misc. parts that I deemed useless. I also added a set of clubman handle bars, and a nice H4 tri-bar headlight (see the main page for more info about these items). The clubman bars were a little bit of a struggle to make fit. I ended up having to disconnect and relocate the brake line (which entitles bleeding the brake), and also tearing apart the twist throttle so that I could relocate the cables to prevent the throttle from sticking open. To be honest, it was a real pain in the rear doing all of this relocation, but it sure looks flossy. You be the judge.

Street bike helmets

May 11, 2008

Type-o
Lets face it, there are more headgear choices out there than there are bikes to wear them on. From the German army helmet type, to the full face race bike helmet. Once you decide what style you want then you can choose the graphics. Im a fan of the flat blacks and grays with simple designs, but I know some people who are into the multi-color flames, skulls, stripes and all that other garbage. I just bought a very nice HJC type-O full face helmet from an awesome online motorcycle store called new enough. HJC seems to be a very good, safe, bang for your buck type helmet. Great price…..this helmet is straight up FIRE. Get off your couch and grab one.

CLEAN
I decided to just post some eye candy for everyone to enjoy today. This is a beautiful example of a unique, modern, and stylish cafe style bike. Notice the tank…. that took some serious time in the fab shop. Also, the modern wheels rather than the original spoked wheels…make your own judgment? This bike is very complex. Take a minute and soak in all the details, just like my dude CC says “ITS ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS”.

Tri-Bar headlights

May 9, 2008

Tri-bars are the real deal. They are much brighter (H4 bulb), as well as much better looking than the old nasty cloudy originals. Stop living in the dark, and buy into some new lighting technology for your street machine. You can find these in pairs on Ebay with the bulbs for around 60 bucks. A friend and I bought a pair and then we split them up. It works like a dream in his XS650. Stop sleeping!
